A fantastic opportunity has arisen to join the team at Sunlight Radio as Broadcast Systems Engineer.
You’ll be responsible for all technical and broadcast equipment on site, and be the person the station turns to for technical help and advice in the first instance. You’ll help manage and execute the technical set up/support for outside broadcasts as required. Other duties will include general day to day facilities management and ad hoc project work.
It is also anticipated that you will spend on average 2 days per week for 16hrs providing support and training for our audio systems across the group. An in depth knowledge of the Sonifix broadcast console suite of applications is therefore highly desirable.
The successful candidate will possess a strong technical background. They will be a highly motivated and organised individual with great attention to detail and a strong team player who will work closely with the Sunlight Radio management team and the technology teams across the group. This is an extremely busy but varied role and travelling to some of the groups other Radio stations may be required.

As Sunlight Radio broadcast engineer you will install, maintain, modify, operate and repair broadcast equipment and systems, including the latest multimedia technology, in a variety of locations and situations and radio.
Working alongside others in the technical department, you will work on a wide range of equipment and systems to ensure that programmes are transmitted across radio networks at the correct times and to the highest standards of technical quality.
Many programmes are broadcast from studios but can also include outside broadcasts (OBs) when sound are transmitted from different locations back to a main studio.
Typical activities include:
designing and setting up audio systems ;
manufacturing and repairing multimedia hardware, software and other broadcast technology systems;
utilising knowledge of analogue and digital systems;
installing, testing and maintaining technical facilities including transmission, editing and studios;
setting up and monitoring audio links with a variety of different units;
maintaining specialist equipment for broadcast and satellite transmission and interactive media;
analysing and rectifying technical faults;
identifying and implementing alternative ways of meeting requirements to cover equipment failures, with minimum loss of service;
investigating new techniques and equipment;
custom-making electronic systems for programmes;
setting up and operating links for outside broadcasts;
building a knowledge of and utilising an awareness of health and safety in the workplace;
problem solving;
listening carefully and being able to interpret instructions and requests;
communicating effectively with own team and other project members;
£10 pay on the hour.
