Podcast Host / Co-Producer
ABOUT THE SHOW
From October 2008, The West Midlands Centre for Constructing Excellence (WMCCE) plans to produce a series of podcast on the construction industry. Each podcast, 30-45mn, will be on a particular topic and examine the current trends, opportunities and issues, by mixing thoughtful commentary and interviews with leaders of the industry.
ABOUT THE POSITION
WMCCE is looking for a host for the podcast series. Each podcast will be recorded every 2 weeks at WMCCE’s office in Birmingham.
Responsibilities include:
• Work with producer, assist with editorial research and preparation of editorial material (audio, text, photographs)
• Logistical support including contacting guests and arranging interviews by phone or at WMCCE’s office, during podcast recording every 2 weeks
• Record podcast at WMCCE’s office every 2 weeks: Be the host of the show
• Suggest ideas for podcast topic ideas
Qualifications:
• Prior professional experience in media or research-driven environment preferred
•Ideally currently writing articles for newspapers/magazines related to the construction industry
• Strong verbal and written communication skills required
• Ability to work independently to develop ideas and sources
Salary:
• Freelance Contract: £400 per podcast
The responsibilities do not require a lot of work. If the candidate is well organised, this host/co-production activity could be combined easily with a full time job. The candidate just needs to arrange that every 2 weeks (ideally on a Friday afternoon), having 1 to 3 guests at WMCCE’s office for a friendly recorded discussion on a topic.
