JOB DESCRIPTION
Job title: Communications Executive – (7 month fixed term contract)
Reports: Tamsyn Clark, Head of Help a London Child
Dotted reporting line: Richard Horsnell, Grants Manager
Location: London
Role Objective and Context:
To raise the profile of Help a London Child fundraising and grant giving internally and externally
To devise and implement PR and publicity strategies for all on and off air activity for all Help a London Child’s activities, working closely with internal and external PR resources (with Capital Radio) and the events and press office teams
To assist with the marketing and brand positioning of the charity, sourcing copy and case studies to present the charity in the most positive way to promote awareness and help generate funds.
To publicise our grant giving activities throughout the year.
Delivery of planned PR activity to the standard required by the Capital Radio brand
Internal communications of the work of Help a London Child within Capital Radio, GCap Media and the whole of Leicester Square
Recruiting and managing celebrity supporters.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Drive the publicity for all events, campaigns and corporate relationships for Help a London Child working closely with Capital Radio to deliver integrated PR plans
Devising and implementing PR and publicity strategies for Help a London Child that raises the profile of the charity and station and support the over all brand strategy
Working closely with Capital Radio to ensure their PR objectives are met with Help a London Child events where possible.
All publicity for Help a London Child
Event and Campaign profiles
Publicising on-air activity (on-air campaigns – Help a London Child weekend appeal and Christmas appeal)
Publicising the work of Help a London Child – especially the Free Sport for All Programme and ensuring better understanding of the brand within the Capital.
Photography
Development of PR and media strategies for events, campaigns and corporate relationships.
Delivery of planned and ad hoc press and PR activity to the standards required by the Capital Radio brand.
Ensuring and advising on where and what branding there should be to maximise branding in photography and press coverage
Media Relations
· Liaison with local, charity, trade, city and broadcast press in addition to national press and monthly magazines plus, electronic media
· Dealing with entertainment and showbiz journalists – constantly building and maintaining a solid contact base
· Developing press materials – press packs, event information
Marketing and Branding
· To be responsible for ensuring Help a London Child is presented well in all on-air promotions and print formats.
· To update brand positioning as relevant and provide copy on Help a London Child for events copy and website copy.
· To be responsible for all marketing materials including banners, annual reviews etc.
Internal Communications
· To promote Help a London Child within Leicester Square offices and GCap Media in general.
Celebrity Liaison
· To source and manage celebrity ambassadors for Help a London Child – making the right approach and ensuring celebrities are well briefed on charity activity.
· To source celebrities to attend Help a London Child Events, ensuring that celebrities are well-briefed on the event they are attending etc.
· Liaise with Capital DJs
o Ensure they attend project visits and become more involved and informed with the activity of the charity.
o Ensure they are informed of HALC events and attend where possible.
Provide ad hoc PR assistance to GCap Media group as required
Experience and Skills:
· A minimum of 1 years PR experience
· A minimum of 1 year’s experience of sourcing and managing celebrities
· Experience of marketing
· An excellent communicator (both verbal and written)
